Holiday Charity Donations
This FRIDAY is your last chance to help out with our charity program at Fortune Sound. The charity is Crabtree Corner (they're our neighbours). We will be accepting donations of food, toiletries, NEW kids clothes or toys. We will also be matching monetary donations. Donate any dollar amount and for each dollar donated you will be handed a red envelope to hang on the trees in the landing and Fortune will match the donation dollar for dollar. We hope you will join us in trying to make this holiday season a merry time for everyone!
Experience The Gift Of Music
Experience is a night that has been going on for over 10 years. It was created by myself and my first guest was DJ Rich Medina. It was inspired by my trip to NYC when I got the chance to check out Body&Soul and the Shelter. I was blown away by the style of music and the way people where reaction to deep and soulful sounds I was hearing. I wanted to bring that experience to Vancouver and that's where the name came from. It was never about what's hot or cool. It was just about good music. Deep house, funk, soul, afro beat, and hip hop. I started off doing experience 4 times a year and when we opened Fortune we started doing it every Saturday night with my good friend and DJ Marlon J English. The night has been going on for 2 & 1/2 years and the support from the community has been the reason for its success. We have had the pleasures of having some great bands and DJ's that have never been to Vancouver. Here is a list of some of our past guests.

Bicycle Portraits
Stan Engelbrecht & Nic Grobler are publishing the best 165 portraits and stories of the over 500 portraits of cyclists they’ve photographed during their 2 year journey around South Africa. Divided over 3 books, each will contain a different 54 stories, and also two essays each by local South African and major international cycling figures. The books are designed by Gabrielle Guy and they have also collaborated with celebrated South African artist Gabrielle Raaff to create an individual hand-painted watercolor map, based on Google Maps, to indicate the location of each of the portraits.
